I took Ivy to see Eisley last night. I wasn’t super interested in going originally since I saw them almost a year ago, but I’ve had never seen them before, so I decided it’d be fun. I’m glad I changed my mind too because it turned out to be a really great show! Although it was never explicitly stated, my friend Andres said it sort of felt like a goodbye show considering they played a lot of older songs and mentioned that, despite all their fairly new, separate side projects, they would always find a way to make music as Eisley and that, since they’re family, they can’t really break up. I’m not sure that’s necessarily true, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they stopped touring in the not too distant future considering 4/5ths of the band had kids within the last year or so, two of which made brief appearances on stage near the end of the set. If that does turn out to be the case though, I’m really glad I changed my mind to see them.
Merriment opened for them and were pretty great too! I hadn’t listened to them before last night, but I used to listen a handful of old demos Christie put out years ago and really enjoyed the album she did with Wesley Jensen a while back, so it was really cool to see how she and her music have grown since then. I was hoping to buy their album after the show last night, but the sold out of copies just the night before, so their weren’t any available. Good for them, though!
So yeah, I had a pretty good time last night!
